The Ten Year Catch-Up

In an effort to fill in some of the gaps in my knowledge of Major Authors and their work, I’ve decided to set myself a challenge.  Over the course of the next ten years (starting this year, 2012), I’ll tackle one author a year by reading several of their so-called “Great Works”.  Judging from my initial two-year plan, my target is six books per year – one every two months, give or take.

The selection of just which books? will be, of course, a tricky one – but I’ll tackle that as it comes.  My plan will be to read the books and review them as I ordinarily would – but then also present a year-ending retrospective that discusses all of the books and the author behind them.

As for the “why ten years?” question… I don’t really have an answer, other than that it seems like a nice round number and I’m at the point in my life where coming up with a crazy thing like doing something over TEN YEARS feels like the right kind of ridiculous challenge.  So, without further ado, the Ten Year Catch-Up begins.

The Schedule:
2012 – Charles Dickens
2013 – Jane Austen
2014 – Haruki Murakami
2015 –
2016 –
2017 –
2018 –
2019 –
2020 –
2021 –
